Financial planner programme success for Johnston Carmichael Wealth
Leading independent firm of Chartered Financial Planners, Johnston Carmichael Wealth, is hailing the success of its financial planner training programme as the first recruit to the scheme has been certified as a Financial Planner.
David Young joined Johnston Carmichael Wealth in 2017, and over the next three years followed a structured ‘Financial Planning Support Route’ developed by the Wealth team, working through each level of the business and ultimately achieving his Diploma in Financial Planning in October 2020.
Following qualification all Financial Planners are obligated to undergo a period of internal supervision and observation.
Having successfully completed this supervisory period, David was certified as a Financial Planner in September 2021; the first participant of the Financial Planning Support Route programme to earn the title.
This brings the total number of Financial Planners in the Wealth team to 17, within the wider team of 63 including Technical Specialists and Client Liaisons.
Our objective at Johnston Carmichael Wealth is to enable clients to live life on their terms, and we do that by investing in the development of our people to ensure we provide the highest levels of expertise and client service.

David Young said: “I’m very proud to have become a certified Financial Planner. It’s the culmination of almost five years of hard work, balancing studying whilst working full-time, and the support I’ve had from the rest of the Wealth team has been invaluable. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey to achieving this qualification and my next goal is to obtain Chartered Financial Planner status, so it’s not over yet!”
