We're delighted to welcome a representative from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a guest speaker at our Edinburgh event.

This is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from the FCA, alongside fellow industry professionals, and take part in open discussions on the operational and practical challenges shaping the CASS landscape.

Hosts

Johnston Carmichael host - Gillian Boston, Head of CASS & Safeguarding

Gillian Boston joined Johnston Carmichael in 2023 as Head of CASS & Safeguarding and CASS RI, supporting clients across the UK. A Chartered Accountant and CASS specialist, Gillian is actively involved in several industry groups, including the ICAEW Financial Services Faculty CASS Working Group and the Scottish CASS Forum.

She has over 15 years' experience working with FCA-regulated firms and has held senior leadership roles across consulting, technology and financial services, specialising in CASS, safeguarding, operational oversight and regulatory compliance.

Edinburgh guest speaker - Kat McPhee, CASS Supervision Manager, FCA

Kat McPhee is a CASS Supervision Manager at the FCA with over 14 years’ experience in financial services, including more than 8 years specialising in CASS and regulatory risk.

Having joined the FCA in November 2025, she leads a team of senior associates and technical specialists providing CASS supervision over a broad range of Firms.

Prior to joining the FCA, Kathleen held senior CASS governance, assurance, and oversight roles at a Tier 1 Investment Bank with a large CASS footprint, responsible for CASS assurance testing, governance, breach management, third party due diligence, and regulatory reporting. She also has broader experience across investment banking operations, tax operations, group finance, and audit assurance.
