We're delighted to welcome a representative from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a guest speaker at our London event.

This is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from the FCA, alongside fellow industry professionals, and take part in open discussions on the operational and practical challenges shaping the CASS landscape.

Building on the success of previous events, these sessions are designed to encourage knowledge sharing, peer-to-peer discussion and meaningful industry connections. Hosts

Johnston Carmichael host - Gillian Boston, Head of CASS & Safeguarding

Gillian Boston joined Johnston Carmichael in 2023 as Head of CASS & Safeguarding and CASS RI, supporting clients across the UK. A Chartered Accountant and CASS specialist, Gillian is actively involved in several industry groups, including the ICAEW Financial Services Faculty CASS Working Group and the Scottish CASS Forum.

She has over 15 years' experience working with FCA-regulated firms and has held senior leadership roles across consulting, technology and financial services, specialising in CASS, safeguarding, operational oversight and regulatory compliance.

London guest speaker - Hayward Lai, Technical Specialist, FCA

Hayward Lai is a CASS Supervisory Technical Specialist at the FCA. Prior to joining the FCA, he held client assets technical advisory and governance roles at a large global financial institution, where he advised on UK CASS requirements and client assets regimes across multiple international jurisdictions.

His responsibilities included client asset governance, policy development, regulatory change implementation, CASS audit oversight, and regulatory breach assessments.

Earlier in his career, Hayward worked at a Big Four audit firm specialising in CASS and statutory audits across a range of financial services firms. He is an ACA-qualified Chartered Accountant.
