Investment commentary from Cornelian Asset Managers
07 October 2020
David Appleton, Investment Director at Cornelian gives us his latest update as the daily twists and turns of the global pandemic continue to dominate investment markets over the summer months.
The performance of financial markets, and therefore our client portfolios, has closely mirrored the recovery pathway that we have observed in the economy.
This can be really divided into 2 periods, an initial relief rally which saw a sharp rebound, followed by a less frenetic period over the summer months as investors were able to digest better quality information on economic and corporate performance and government and healthcare policy. Progress in this second phase has been uneven but positive overall, much like the performance of the global economy.
