Brexit trade deal – action for businesses and employers to take now

Although we now have a trade deal with the EU, there are still new procedures to follow from 1 January 2021, so we would advise all clients who import from or export to the EU, or businesses who have employees working within the EU, to conduct the following checks now.

After protracted negotiations, it has taken to Christmas Eve to agree the terms between the UK and EU negotiating teams and Brussels and London now have a week to review and approve the detail in Parliament.

HMRC grants to help your business with customs declarations

Completing custom declarations is a complex, specialist area. HMRC has provided a list of agents that can help with this area on their website, but they’re also offering funding to businesses to help towards the cost of recruiting or training an in-house specialist and developing the required IT infrastructure to submit Customs declarations.

Brexit: Exporting to the EU via France – keeping it simple

One of the most challenging areas of Brexit is navigating the guidance on exporting goods into the EU. Every country has their own regulations to abide by, and in some instances the guidance is open to interpretation. However, going via the Channel and into France may be more straightforward than you first thought.
