Simon joined Johnston Carmichael in 2022. He has nearly 30 years’ experience in financial services with senior leadership roles including customer service delivery & experience, operations, change, products, strategy, risk, and HR.
Since joining Johnston Carmichael, Simon has successfully led engagements touching on strategy development, customer, market evaluation, product development and governance, assurance, and project management. He has worked closely with Executives at many of the UK’s banks, building societies, and financial services firms. Most recently, he has played a leading role in the firm’s response to the Consumer Duty, advising clients on practical and pragmatic embedding of the regulations.
Highlights of Simon’s varied career within the banking industry have included:
- Creating an enterprise-wide first line risk function
- Head of Product Management for Savings, Investments and Insurance
- Head of an enterprise-wide Complaint Handling operation
- Developing and executing strategy for a 200+ unit retail branch network
- Transforming customer service operations
- Project leadership to deliver commercial, regulatory, and transformational goals
- Launching two overseas retail funding operations in Ireland and The Bahamas
- Driving insight and action from enterprise-wide ‘Voice of the Customer’ research programmes
Outside of Johnston Carmichael, Simon enjoys music, running, and travel with his wife and two children.
