A clean sweep for the Payroll Services team at Johnston Carmichael - Bacs Inspection 2023
Every three years, our Payroll Services team are required to go through an intensive, external audit to assess our compliance with ‘Pay.UK’, and the overall Bacs Approved Bureau Scheme.
The ‘Bacs Approved Bureau Scheme’ inspection, looks at several key areas and categories.
These include:
- Organisation and policy
- Professional services and commercial arrangements
- Physical security
- Network environment
- Systems management
- Logical access control
- Business continuity and disaster recovery
- Bacs processing and data controls
- HSM and cryptographic key management
We are delighted to have passed this year’s inspection, passing all nine areas, with six of the nine areas being with distinction and no recommendations. This means we continue to meet and exceed the standard required to maintain our Bacs Approved Bureau status.
This is another great achievement for the team and emphasises the importance of good governance across the full payroll process.
The audit process is fairly invasive and includes on-site visits to our Payroll hubs across the UK. I am grateful to have such talent across our Payroll, IT and Business Support team – all of which make the Bacs process run smoothly every single day on behalf of our clients.
