HMRC update: tax treatment of dividends from Hong Kong, Falkland Islands and Faroe IslandsOn 25 April 2019 HMRC updated the list of territories that it considers to have an appropriate non-discrimination provision in their tax treaties with the UK. Hong Kong, the Falkland Islands and the Faroe Islands were removed from this list.

If you currently sell digital services to consumers in other EU countries, claim VAT incurred elsewhere in the EU or use the EU “VIES” database to check EU customer and supplier VAT numbers, you need to be aware of these changes.

HMRC launches voluntary profit diversion disclosure facilityHMRC has just launched the Profit Diversion Compliance voluntary disclosure facility. This is aimed at multinational enterprises (MNE) with structures and arrangements targeted by the Diverted Profit Tax (DPT) legislation.
