Brexit – the deal is done

After protracted negotiations, it has taken to Christmas Eve to agree the terms between the UK and EU negotiating teams and Brussels and London now have a week to review and approve the detail in Parliament.
It is being portrayed as a big win for the UK by Boris Johnson, with the EU side presenting it as a fair agreement. The finer detail of what has been agreed will come out in the coming days.
Headlines include:
- No tariffs or quotas when trading between the UK and EU
- Some border controls will be put in place
- No hard border in Ireland
- The length of the transition period to move to new fishing rules is where the UK compromised
