Sustainability is in our DNA. It’s woven into our values, our culture, and our conversations. We’re committed to minimising our environmental impact wherever possible, ensuring our business operates responsibly for the future.

At Johnston Carmichael, sustainability is at the heart of our business. Guided by Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint, minimising waste, and embedding sustainable practices across our operations.
Our net-zero action plan drives this commitment, ensuring we make informed supply chain decisions and actively reduce our environmental impact. In line with the Scottish Government’s target, we aim to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045.
Environmental responsibility isn’t just an initiative, it’s fundamental to how we do business, shaping the way we work today to create a more sustainable future.

Our impact on the environment is of paramount importance to us. We are currently reviewing our property estate and energy usage, and how we travel for business – to name just a few steps we’re taking to reduce our carbon footprint.

We encourage our people to work in an environmentally responsible manner; encouraging greater use of electronic and digital communication methods, going paperless, reducing the number of emails sent unnecessarily and reducing our CO2 emissions.

We continue to maximise the use of technology to operate a hybrid working model. This change has reduced commutes and significantly reduced business travel, in turn reducing our CO2 emissions.

As part of our Climate Action Plan, we have invested in new, more efficient heating systems in a number of our offices. We constantly challenge how our offices can be more environmentally friendly.
