‘Eat Out to Help Out’ – HMRC begin compliance checks

HMRC has begun to verify thousands of claims made under the Government’s ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ scheme earlier this year. VAT cuts for the Hospitality & Tourism sector

As the Government seeks to revive the UK economy after months of lockdown, the Chancellor announced a £4 billion commitment to reduce the rate of VAT from 20% to 5% in the hospitality and tourist sectors. Both reductions will run from 15 July 2020 to 31 March 2021.

Further support for hotels and self-catering accommodation in Scotland

This week the Scottish Government announced further funding for the hospitality & tourism sector with a £14 million hotel recovery programme to support businesses until the start of next summer.
