Roger started his career in 2004 with KPMG, where he worked in the private client team there, for less than a year in a temporary role, after graduating with a degree in Pharmacology from University of Glasgow. From KPMG he jointed Scott-Moncrieff as a tax assistant where he worked for around 10 years. Roger then left Scott-Moncrieff for KPMG again, but returned to Scott-Moncrieff (now part of Azets) after 18 months. He is a member of the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT) and Chartered Institute of Tax (CTA), qualifying for both during his time with Scott-Moncrieff before 2007. He joined Johnston Carmichael in April 2022 as a senior manager in the private client tax team and works on both private client advisory and compliance.

During his career he has been involved in tax compliance and planning for owner managed/family businesses and high net worth individuals. He's done a lot of work within the medical and professional partnerships sector.

Roger's specialisms are in private client tax and owner managed businesses, including professional partnerships (legal firms) and medical clients (GPs, consultants, locums). His work focuses on income tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax planning and compliance and partnership taxation. He is also part of our Professional Partnerships sector team.
