Michael is a Business Advisory Director based in Elgin and joined Johnston Carmichael in 2015. CA and ATT qualified, he is a key member of the firm’s Rural team, with a particular focus on Landed Estates and High Net Worth clients. 

Michael is recognised for his strong technical expertise in tax and his practical, solutions-focused approach to client service. 

Michael works closely with landed estate and rural clients, providing clear, actionable advice across a range of complex matters. He continually stays abreast of evolving tax and sector developments and works collaboratively with colleagues across service lines to deliver well-rounded advice. Michael is valued for his ability to bring clarity to issues and for building trusted, long-term relationships within the rural community. 

Outside of work Michael can be found either fishing or out in the hills with his wife (Katherine) and their dog, Finn.
