Amanda joined Johnston Carmichael in January 2023 with over 17 years’ experience working in International Tax. She started her career at a Big 4 firm, working in both the London and New York offices, developing a breadth of experience covering both UK corporate tax compliance and advisory projects. She subsequently worked at a smaller firm, advising fast-growing scale-ups looking to expand outside or into the UK. Prior to joining the firm, Amanda’s most recent experience was working in-house as the EMEA Tax Manager for a listed US group, responsible for corporate tax matters in over 40 countries.
Some of the specialist international tax areas that Amanda has experience advising on include: withholding taxes and double tax treaty analysis; reviews of Permanent Establishment risk when expanding into new countries; tax considerations when structuring new legal entities overseas or restructuring holding company arrangements; transfer pricing strategy and documentation and the impact of EU Directives such as DAC 6 and the anti-shell Directive on cross-border arrangements.
Amanda has experience working in-house in the renewable energy and automotive sectors, as well as advising clients across a wide variety of other sectors.
