Sandy Manson appointed as ICAS president

    Sandy Manson, Chief Executive of Johnston Carmichael, has been appointed as new president of ICAS, the professional body for CAs. Sandy succeeds Stagecoach chair and co-founder, Sir Brian Souter.

    Commenting on his recent appointment Sandy said:

    "A key focus for me during my term in office will be to work to increase the level of public trust in business and to strive to promote the values and further enhance the reputation of our profession. We have a critical role to play in building public trust. ICAS and our 21,000 chartered accountants need to lead the way.

    "I also very much look forward to working with ICAS’ new CEO, Bruce Cartwright, on this and the other opportunities and challenges the profession and wider business community face”.

    Bruce Cartwright said: “Sandy has spent his working life in the accountancy profession and has over a decade of experience as CEO of Johnston Carmichael.

    Sandy joined Johnston Carmichael in 1991 from Arthur Anderson and took on the role as Managing Partner of the Aberdeen office in 1995, he then went on to become Chief Executive in 2007 and has seen the firm grow from 350 staff and revenues of £20 million, to a Top 20 UK accountancy firm and revenues in excess of £40 million.
